Thai Cuisine

The most common thing that becomes the basic of Thai cuisine is the lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic component. Even though Thai cuisine is known for the spicy taste, the most important thing in the Thai cuisine is balance, detail, and variety. For this, Thai cuisine is known also for the balance between five fundamental tastes that are hot or spicy, sour, sweet, salty, and sometimes, bitter.

The Thai cuisine is usually served as a single dish, or the cuisine will be served as rice, or khao in Thai, with so many complementary dishes that are served to be enjoyed by all. In one table, it is common to serve so many dishes at once to serve more dishes than the guests are that present. Traditionally, Thai food is eaten with right hand, but the modernization brings the meal to be enjoyed with spoon and fork.

Thai food is commonly served with various paste and sauces, as well as condiments. The condiments may include phrik nam pla, which consist of fish sauce, limejuice, chopped chilies, and garlic. The Thai cuisine that is served normally in one family consists of dry red curry, a spicy green papaya salad with dried prawns tomatoes, yardlong beans, and peanuts. Deep fried stuffed chicken wings, a salad of grilled beef, shallot and celery mints, spicy stir century eggs, and non-spicy vegetable soup with seaweed and tofu are also the common Thai dishes.
