Japanese Cuisine

Japanese cuisine might have grown widely to be able to be enjoyed by so many people in the world by the worldwide Japanese restaurants. Yet, there are not many people that know the origin of the Japanese cuisine that has been unique in so many ways, and which has passed so many developments because of the political and economic condition of Japanese people. The unique thing that comes from Japanese cuisine is the seasonality of food, quality of ingredients as well as the presentation as the most beautiful thing that can come from a cuisine.

The most common item that can be found in Japanese cuisine is rice. Yet, the rice that is used is special, named hakumai, the short grain white rice that will be sticky if cooked. The other type of the rice that is used is mochi rice, that is stickier rather than the regular rice, and it is usually used in some dishes, such as sekihan, which is the cooked mochi rice that is served with red beans.

Some special cuisines are served in the special occasions. The first is botamochi, a dumpling made of sticky rice with sweet azuki paste that served in spring. The chimaki, sweet rice cake, and hamo, a kind of fish, are served during Gion Festival. On the other way around, sushi, sashimi, teriyaki, tempura and many other recipes are the Japanese cuisine that has been adapted to the other nation’s taste in food.
