Due to the fishing and farming industries that are great in Netherland, the Dutch cuisine is somehow affected, by using a large number of fish and vegetables rather than other ingredients. It is common for Dutch people to invite people in the koffietijd or coffee time. The popular one is the rule of one cookie for the friend of one cup of tea or coffee.
While, in the dinner, the Dutch cuisine will include stamp pot, which is mashed potatoes that are mixed with other vegetables and pea soup. The side dishes are the stewed vegetables, such as rode kool met appeltjes that is red cabbage with apples, and rode bieten, which is the red bit.
